Refers to the quality of an asset, such as a currency, security, deposit, durable consumer good, precious metal, artwork, among others, which allows for its conversion into cash. The liquidity of each asset is measured by the ease of such conversion in terms of time. In financial products where the degree of illiquidity is high, they must compensate the investor through an extra premium for such situation.
